Not your usual crêperie, but one to remember (and come back for)!

Oroyona, a petite, petite, petite hole in the wall crêperie in one of Paris' most interesting and loved street - Rue Mouffetard.
One of my best friend, Marie, born and breed Parisian, took me to Rue Mouffetard the first time I visited Paris more than a decade ago. Not far from her home, this street has been our usual spot ever since.
After I moved to London, I visited Marie and Mia more often as it was easy to jump on an EuroStar back then. It was a cold boring winter night sometime in 2015, we went to have a drink in a small bar called the Bastards, Marie doesn’t even drink alcohol so I just had a soda too - doesn’t help with the -2 degree.
Rue Mouffetard at night is very busy, and there’s often a queue outside of the Greek crêperie which apparently has a big name somehow. We continued walking and I was attracted to this tiny soft aqua green timber door. Upon Marie’s instruction I ordered in my crappy French. Ratatouille, lots of épinard (spinach), champignons (mushrooms) and an œuf (egg). Then the love affair began and I’ve been committed since then.

I remember one time I was walking back to Marie's home late at night, couldn't help myself to get a galette 'on the way' (okay there was a bit of detour). It took me no time to finish it and I actually went back to get a 2nd. That was 2 galettes after dinner. Easy.
At one point I was such an addict I nearly missed my EuroStar back to London because I rushed to get a galette!
Over the years I've been back countless times over the years and we got to know the guy who owns it - Julio (even if he forgets me every year!).

One time Julio told us he was featured in a local magazine. We actually went to an the tabac (an news agency stall ) and asked for an old copy and got Julio to sign it... A real fan!
In recent years this tiny place seems to have been getting more attention from tourists in addition to the locals. I even came across some tourists who were on a gourmet walking tour to get oysters, cheese and wine, now, galettes! I’m happy for Julio that his business has become quite known in the last 5 years. I’m a bit territorial my secret spot is no longer secret, but I hope peopleIt's once of those places where the locals would wish it would've been kept as a secret, but hey who am I to say! Sharing is caring!

So here it is, I present to you, the tiny Oroyona, where you'll find joy and warmth in these no-fuss yummy galette and crepes, and even better, wash it down with some ciders!
By the way, Julio’s Argentinian, and he employees a lot of young Argentinians and help them to settle in Paris. The galette may not be folded the same way they do in the crêperie street in Montparnasse, but it’s folded with love and abundance of yumminess!
